Tyke Division Info

Updated March 10, 2021:

In addition to the competitive league, TCMBHA offers an ball hockey introductory "Tykes" division. The Tyke division is a development program which introduces the kids to stick handling, shooting, moving around in the rink, ball hockey drills and basic game concepts.

For 2021, this program is open to kids born in 2015 and 2016.  The Tyke division does not play games (other than scrimmaging), instead they participate in one practice session per week.

TYKE SCHEDULE 2021: to be posted once it is available

Uniforms are usually handed out to each of the players at the first session and must be returned at the end of the season. But for 2021 due to Covid-19 the players will not be given uniforms.

Please also be sure to check out our Equipment Information page. All players will have an equipment check at the first evaluation session. Players must have all equipment in order to be permitted on the arena floor.

For the past several years, Metro Minor Ball Hockey (Vancouver/Burnaby) has hosted a Tyke Mini Tournament. We will post and email this information as soon as it is available.

We need 4-6 parents to step up as coaches/helpers each season for the Tyke Division. These individuals will need to complete a Criminal Record Check prior to the first session. Even if you have never played ball hockey but have coached other sports we would welcome you to consider taking on this role. This is all about having fun and introducing the kids to the sport of ball hockey.

Please email TCMBHA President, Natalie Walker (president@tcmbha.com) or Executive Director, Shayne Apostoliuk (executivedirector@tcmbha.com) for further information.
