In addition to the competitive league, TCMBHA offers an ball hockey introductory "Tykes" division. The Tyke division is a development program which introduces the kids to stick handling, shooting, moving around in the rink, ball hockey drills and basic game concepts.
For 2019, this program is open to kids born in 2013 and 2014. The Tyke division does not play games (other than scrimmaging), instead they participate in one practice session per week (tentatively planned for Sunday mornings at either 9am or 10am starting early April 2019).
Uniforms will be handed out to each of the players at the first session and must be returned at the end of the season.
For the past several years, Metro Minor Ball Hockey (Vancouver/Burnaby) has hosted a Tyke Mini Tournament. We will post and email this information as soon as it is available.
COACHES/HELPERS NEEDED FOR 2019:
We need 4-6 parents to step up as coaches/helpers for the Tyke Division. These individuals will need to complete a Criminal Record Check prior to the first session. Even if you have never played ball hockey but have coached other sports we would welcome you to consider taking on this role. This is all about having fun and introducing the kids to the sport of ball hockey.
Please email TCMBHA President, Natalie Walker (email@example.com) or Executive Director, Shayne Apostoliuk (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further information.
